Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought I’d share a fall-colored card with you using Blingz

I stamped the image (FireCracker Designs, Fall Flowers) with Stazon onto an acetate sheet and then painted with Spiced Cider Blingz!  I  thought the flower itself was beautiful enough so I kept the card very simple.

Be sure to check out the announcement here!  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Shopping!

Jbelle Tuesday – A few of my favorite things!

Well, to be honest, I LOVE everything at Jacksonbelle Embellishments and it all wasn’t going to fit on one of anything!  I think my most favorite thing though is that I can buy so many things that I love at one stop, i.e.  Inkadinkado, Shimmerz, Basic Grey, May Arts, Prima,  the list goes on and on and on!

I have been drooling over Cathy I’s triangle boxes and cards for some time now and I finally had the chance to make a set myself!  You can find the template for the box at Splitcoast.  I used Inkadinkado Winter Birds inked up with Versamagic ink for the main image.

I painted the snowflakes with Butter Cream Shimmerz.  The delish patterned paper is Basic Grey Wassail.  I added the punched snowflakes (thanks Heather) on tope of the ghost snowflake and attached it with a brad.  The ribbon is SU! I tied the bow and stuck it on with a glue dot, then I used sticky-strip and ruffled it up a bit!  I love that look!

I think this would make a great gift set  – throw some chocolate in there and anyone would love it!  I also think that these triangles would look wonderful hanging on the Christmas Tree!

Be sure to read my post about Jacksonbelle’s Design Team search! You could be the next JBelle Rockstar!

One Grumpy Beaver

Bubs the Beaver ….. He’s just so dang cute, and when I look at him, I just think that this poor guy is having a rough day!  Just imagine a sleepy beaver peeking out of his dam to take a look around at the glorious day and then PLOP! a big clump of snow from the tree branch above lands right on his head giving him a ‘good mornin’ Mr. Beaver’… this is EXACTLY what he’d look like….and what he’d say!

The box was inspired by a box I made with Nancy Morgan (Paper Smiles) several weeks back.  I LOVED the box and thought it would work perfectly as a treat box!  I made it just  a little bit deeper and added a window so I could see the treat inside!  I’ll call these Snowy Beaver Dam Cookies – they’re damn good too!  (Okay they are a little on the sweet side, but after about, oh, say, 6, they aren’t too sweet - you become immune to the sweetness!!)

Snowy Beaver Dam Cookies:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips - 1 cup butterscotch chips (next time I’ll use peanut butter chips instead of butterscotch) - 4 cups chow mein noodles

Melt chips in microwave and stir in noodles, then scoop up and place in dams on parchment paper or foil. Let cool. Then drizzle with melted white chocolate for the snow!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  I’ve got some girls coming over to stamp with me – yahooo for that!  I get to show them all my new Our Craft Lounge stamps and they can all DROOL over them!

Sicko!!

I was totally planning to show you my beaver       card today, but my youngest poor little pitiful son is sick again.  He has cold-flu-stuffy-nose-sore-throat-viral-bacterial-just-about-anything-induced asthma.  Thankfully, it is NOT allergy induced nor exercise induced, which I believe can be much more severe, but it seems ONE sniffle turns into full blown pneumonia and asthmatic barking within just a few hours.  Anyway, I thought I’d share another Our Craft Lounge  get-well sicko card with you today instead of my beaver card!

Is this just not the most darling sick elephant ever?  Okay, so a sick elephant wouldn’t really be wearing that doctor’s head light thing unless he was a doctor himself, but still cute, eh?

The paper is again My Mind’s Eye.  I colored Dr. Pea-Nut with prismacolor pencils and OMS, and I polka-dotted him with a white gel pen!  The scalloped edge is from a Martha punch, but I don’t know what it is called! Helpful, hu?

If you want to see a grumpy beaver, come back Friday!

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge

I actually made this card last night for the sketch challenge (SC203) but I couldn’t post it until now! I had to spend the day at the doctor’s office and the pharmacy with my son – he’s a sicko : (.

I thought the sketch would work well for a baby card….and of course, Dr. Pea-Nut worked well too!  I stamped the elephant on patterned paper, cut it out, and then inked around the edges just a bit with pink ink to add some shading.  I added the pink buttons to make it look just a bit more like a baby card!  I think this elephant is just darling in pink….and with polka-dots!  You can find Dr. Pea-Nut at Our Craft Lounge – you will also find LOTS of samples there too, just click the image gallery button below the stamp set.

I have another Dr. Pea-Nut card for you tomorrow with more polka-dots!

Follow Heather’s Rainbow!

I made this card today for Heather’s Blog and the QKD Birthday blog hop!  You can read more info on Heather’s Blog!  Her challenge was to use the colors of the rainbow! I think if you look close, they are all there!

I used The Angel Company’s Frutti Fusion Paper – it is quite funky and the images are Patterned Bugs – Inkadinkado

Color Throwdown Wednesday

I know it appears that I’ve just sort of forgotten about the Color Throwdown – I promise – I haven’t!  I’ve had to take a bit of a break but I still wanted to give a shout-out to the girls working hard over there! Hi Guys!  Hope all is well!

Here’s what they are working on this week:

throwdownswatch20

I realize now that these leaves look just a bit like the notorious cannabis emblem – sorry - I swear I didn’t mean to do that and didn’t realize it until just now!  So – say NO to drugs…..and Yes to great colors!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday

Good Tuesday Mornin’ Ladies (and gents if there are any of ya)! Today’s Jacksonbelle Embellishments Tuesday Challenge is for snowflakes or Christmas – I think I managed both!

I wanted a simple clean card – so here is what I came up with!

If you look really close….there are some snowflakes in the stamped image! (edited: Ha! I Just looked really close.....and they are NOT snowflakes - just big holly berries! Darn! Well, at least Christmas was part of the theme for the Challenge - I think I got that part covered!) The image is Inkadinkado – Winter Birds. I had some lovely Prima poinsettias (the red flower) and really wanted to use one, but I thought the red was just a bit too bright for the white card, so I added a white Prima over the top! And guess what I did to that flower? Um.. Painted it with Shimmerz of course! I used Angel Wings. Lindsey carries TONS of Shimmerz at Jacksonbelle Embellishments if you are looking where to by it!

Be sure to check out the other JB-Team Members to see what they created….OH – and read the blog post below if you missed it – JB is looking for some new design team members!

Our Craft Lounge – Image Gallery

Woohoo! The image gallery at Our Craft Lounge is up and running – it looks great and it makes noise! Just click on the “Image Gallery” button just below the stamp set images and you’ll get to see a bunch of samples!

    And now for a card!

Let’s give some love to Spring Garden! I feel like this card is just a bit different from something I’d normally make….and I love it! I love the bright colors, and I had a great time coloring it! This is how I used to color in my coloring books growing up. I had to have Crayola Crayons (a brand new box) and Markers, thick and thin! First you outline the image (well I guess it would be in-lining because you do it to the inside the outside of the image – confused yet?) You run your marker JUST inside the black line! THEN you color with crayons. Well, I didn’t actually use crayons because I ONLY like to use brand new sharp crayons….forget the crumbled pieces, and we didn’t have any. I used my Prismacolor colored pencils and SU Markers instead. In a real coloring book, this technique looks GREAT and the marker helps keep you inside the lines – it isn’t easy to color a wax crayon over a marker mark, and it gives a bit of shading too…even looks pretty cool with different colors! If you try it – let me know – I’d love to see! I also used a white gel pen on the photo corners, the scalloped oval, and the butterflies. I used some MAMBI Bling for the flower centers and some black rhinestones (Thanks Heather) for the butterflies. Oh, and the patterned paper is My Minds Eye.

    Splitcoast Stampers Featured Stamper

Kendra is today’s featured stamper at Splitcoast!  Yay Kendra! Here’s her Gallery – IT’S GREAT!!

I CASED by memory. I changed more than two things, but I CASED the parts that I remembered and LOVED! I LOVED the embossed paper on the bottom half, how it was the exact size (in width) and lined up perfectly with the top half patterned paper creating one background piece, and I LOVED how the two were separated by another patterned paper with stripes going vertically, then a strip of ribbon going horizontally just below it - I LOVED it! I thought it was a great way to use some different patterns, textures, etc. My image ended up being a bit too big to be off-centered...plus I just have a hard time not centering everything! I chinced out a bit and couldn’t find two striped things to work for the middle of the card, so I used wide grosgrain ribbon for the vertical stripe instead : )

I’ve been thinking about Bubs the Beaver from Our Craft Lounge for a while… I spent a lot of time with him this weekend actually!  Anyway, I was looking at the stamp set and I thought, “You know what…..I think that I CHEWS U would fit right in the middle of that snag of a tree!”  And it did!  I just did some tape masking on the stamp as I inked it up, then I stamped the sentiment right in the middle!  I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and OMS.

I keep buying these Twix Stix because I think they look just like LOGS and I keep thinking I’m going to think of a cute way to use them with Mr. Bubs….but then I keep eating them!  Finally yesterday I had a thought…Hey – I bet these would fit perfectly in a nugget tin… and they did! AND the best part?  Five fit perfectly and six come in a box so that means I got to eat one!  Always a plus! (hmm..my size too).  I think the frog that comes in this set is just soo stinkin cute and I HAD to use it!  So I stuck the frog on a chipboard star and called it good!

Thanks Kendra for the inspiration – and a good reason to eat chocolate!

    Posting on Saturday?

Wow! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted on Saturday, but I’ve got more Our Craft Lounge cards to share!  If you haven’t visited the storefront yet – be sure to check it out.  Scroll down to the bottom of the home page there and you will see a link for the forums!  Yep! They’ve even created a forum for the OCL!  Joy, Cambria AND Marianne are all there!  If you are a fan of Copics, then you are probably a fan of Marianne (hey that rhymes) and you will probably be interested in her hints and techniques for coloring the OCL images!

So I’ve showed you a few dogs, a beaver, and an elephant….now how bout a tree and maybe even a giraffe?

This tree is from the set Tree-mendous Love.

I made this card for Splitcoast Stampers Ways To Use It Challenge – watercolor paper!  I went a bit overboard really on my coloring, but I like the fun bright feeling it gives.  After I tried to watercolor, I drew some clouds and a bit of texture on the tree.  I messed up so many times on this card I dubbed it the Stamping Pit!  I kept having to try to ‘fix’ things….especially after I dropped it right into my black ink!

Okay, so that was the tree….. now here’s the giraffe!

And the coolest part?  They are in the same set!  Yep! You get the tree and the giraffe!   This set is actually available in Crafty Cling Rubber (pink rubber) that is precut to perfection – no fuzzies, just perfect!  It is also available in Crafty Clear Acrylic.  I haven’t gone into much detail about the rubber or the acrylic yet (that’s below)– but it is FANTASTIC!

    thumbnail

The Crafty Cling Rubber has just the right firmness/softness combination – I find this VERY important with stamping and cleaning the stamp – and I’m actually a bit picky about how firm/soft the rubber should be.  I find that when rubber is too soft, it “mushes” the stamped image AND it isn’t very easy to clean; when it is too hard, it is hard to get a nice crisp stamped image, and again, it is hard to clean! So, like my rubbah right in the middle… not to hard, but not to soft – just right!  Another very cool thing about the CC-Rubber is the storage sheet it comes on!  It looks like a page out of a notebook, it is sturdy, and it has 3 holes punched in it…. I think this means STORAGE might just be popping up at the Lounge sometime soon!

The Crafty Clear is high quality as well.  It has just enough stickiness, but not so bad that you can’t remove it from the packaging!   It has a nice crisp stamped image and so far the staining has been minimal.  Of course, the black will stain it – but I prefer it stained – I feel like I can see it better!  The CC-A comes on a clear piece of acetate (or whatever that stuff is) with a top piece ATTACHED!  I LOVE this part!  I own SEVERAL other clear sets from other companies and if they don’t come attached, and if I haven’t already lost the top protective sheet, I tape it together! I was thrilled that this was already done for me!  AND the images are pre-printed on the acetate for easy placement and identification!  Cool Beans!  I’d say that the girls at OCL (Our Craft Lounge) really put a lot of thought into their stamps!    Thanks- cuz I love them!

Don’t forget about the pink tickets! For each stamp set you buy this weekend from the OCL you will get a ticket included in your order and be eligible to win prizes!  Info Here!

See you later! I’ve got LOTS of stamping plans for this weekend  - I sure hope I get a bit of it done!

    Just Loungin’ around…

With Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge (WSC66) and new images from Our Craft Lounge of course!  Here’s another Pat the Dog card!

He’s Pat just about the cutest dog?  I think so!  I stamped him (or is it her? – Pat??) on watercolor paper with Timber Stazon, then I painted IT with ink and watercolor crayons – I’m terrible at watercoloring and I basically just COLOR the image! Oh well!  Then I painted the rest of the paper with Magenta Shimmerz (you can find it here).  I used Real Red ink for the scattered paw prints on the layer behind the dog.  The CUTE paper is My Mind’s Eye.  In fact, all of the paper I’ve been using this week with Our Craft Lounge has been from My Mind’s Eye – (Thanks : )  The paper is FABULOUS!

    Here’s a close up!

So, You want to see more?

Our Craft Lounge….only one more day and then you can see it all in one place! I was having a hard time deciding what to show next, but I had a special request for the Beaver … so here HE is! Bubs The Beaver:

He’s pretty tough looking isn’t he? I just love him….he’s totally saying…”Hmmph…I forgot your Birthday…but what’cha gonna do about it?”

thumbnail_asp I think there are lots of possibilities for the logs to create a little gift with this guy! I used Twix Stix – I even cut the ends of one to look like they were chewed by Mr. Bubs himself. I think these would look really cute in an acetate box or just like this. I also think chocolate covered pretzel logs would be great too!

    Jacksonbelle Tuesday

Lynda created another great sketch for Jacksonbelle Embellishments design team again, and here is what I came up with (another no stamping card!):

    DSC04547

    It Opens!DSC04545

I just LOVE this patterned paper,  Fancy Pants - Wonderland , the whole stack is great!  I love the aged and distressed look of it.  I added just a bit more Timber Ink to the edges just so the white cut edges wouldn’t stand out, then I also distressed the Kraft cardstock just to make it all flow better.   There is one sheet in the pack of paper that has rectangles that look like tags and sentiments, and that is what I used for the main image on the front and the green journaling piece inside – I thought maybe I’d write a little extra note in there!  I also used May Arts - Burgundy and Gold satin ribbon.  I tied it through We-R-Memory-Keepers XL eyelets and I also used the hinge and brads from this great kit!   I love the BRIGHT green color with the very rich deep red – I think it makes a fun contrast, even though this is something I tend to stay away from!

    Jacksonbelle Tuesday – CASE Me?

Hey!  It’s another Jacksonbelle Embellishments Tuesday and guess what?  The team is CASEing me!  YIKES!!

    Here’s my card –

When I made this card, I was thinking of THIS card….and copied the painted Prima flower (I painted it with Shimmerz Golden Wheat – and YUM! What a gorgeous color this is!) and inked/embossed ghost snowflake!   I used two different colors of Momento ink for the Inkadinkado Winter Birds stamp.  I wanted the bird and the flower/snowflake to really stand out, so I kept the card layout very simple.  I used Cosmo Cricket – Oh Joy paper.  The colors are really a bit different for me – and I KNOW the snowflake really doesn’t match…. but I’m making it work! : )

I can’t wait to see what everyone else did – or maybe, I can – I think I’m a bit nervous actually!

    Check these out!

BLINGZ!! A new kind of Shimmerz!

Shimmerz has created a new product called Blingz!  Check it out!

For the main image, stamped the Lizzie Anne Designs Silent Night image on white paper and embossed with black embossing powder. Then I painted the entire piece with Spiced Cider Blingz. Once the paper was dry enough to handle, I carefully wiped the embossed image off. For the 'patterned paper' in the background, I used the same white paper and Blingz, but this time, I did a technique similar to smacking acetate - or at least that is what I think it is called! I splotched up a piece of acetate with the Blingz, then turned it over and pressed it onto the white paper. I did this until the white paper was completely covered with the Blingz. The paper is very shimmery, and because I used the acetate, the Blingz dried with a bumpy 3D texture. There are some larger glimmering particles in it, which make it even more shimmery! I think it looks pretty darn fabulous!
